After the disintegration of his industrial group Cop Shoot Cop in 1996, singer Tod A. started Firewater, an outfit that has, at one time or other, boasted ex-members of bands like Soul Coughing and the Jesus Lizard. Defying labels, the group's sound remains a punchy, sardonic mix of sufi songs, klezmer wedding anthems, and stompy punk. Firewater return after a three-year hiatus with new album The Golden Hour, which chronicles Tod A.'s travels through Pakistan, Israel, and parts of Southeast Asia. Tonight, they're joined by so-talented-it's-scary teenage indie rockers Audiophiles and techie instrumentalists Microfiche, who just performed at Maker Faire.
