The Legion of Honor Museum says…

Like Scottie and his phantasmic Madeleine, San Francisco just can't give up the ghost of Vertigo. And why should we? Our city has never been portrayed in as elegantly melancholic a fashion as in Hitchcock's 1958 romantic thriller. So, to mark Vertigo turning the big 5-0, one of the film's sweetest settings hosts a golden-anniversary screening. Peruse an exhibition of images of the film's featured locales as an artist paints a copy of the film's ghostly Carlotta portrait in real time. The pre-screening events wrap up with a presentation by Footsteps in the Fog: Alfred Hitchcock's San Francisco authors Jeff Kraft and Aaron Leventhal and a meal of mid-century fare worthy of Ernie's Restaurant.
