The drone moves across a remarkable spread of human activity, from religious chanting and doom metal to the whir of white noise. For Hum, six multimedia artists hone in on the flatline machines that increasingly dominate not just our public spaces, but also our private ones. The sound of silence may be scarce, but Hum attests to the dazzling array of a certain sort of quietude.
