Film A Listener's Tale

Yerba Buena film programmer Joel Shepard snags another unusual US premiere. This one is a documentary tone poem set in a Buddhist community in Sikkim, a part of India bordering Tibet. Bengali director Arghya Basu spent three years observing the people's ancient dances and prayer rituals, making A Listener's Tale perhaps the Buddhist equivalent of the monastery-set Into Great Silence (2005).
