The Booksmith says…

Daphne Gottlieb's poetry — which entwines academic language and dirty talk — is populated with personas, from the archetypal slasher-film survivor of Final Girl (2003) to pan-historical lovers Josephine Baker, Amelia Earhart, Anne Frank, Frida Kahlo, JonBenét Ramsey, and other famous deceased females in Kissing Dead Girls. Gottlieb plays a persona herself — both character and caricature — in the "tell-all" anthology Fucking Daphne, comprising quasi-fictional writings by her contemporaries. If you missed her last month at City Lights, tonight Gottlieb delves into both Kissing and Fucking all over again.
