Film: Documentary The Last Zapatistas, Forgotten Heroes

Eighty years after the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata was killed in an ambush, filmmaker Francesco Taboada Tabone set out to interview the last surviving members of the original Liberation Army of the South. In The Last Zapatistas, the ex-partisans testify with a candor and lucidity that help explain Zapata's enduring appeal as a revolutionary icon. (Politicos who only know his name from the latter-day Zapatista Army of National Liberation will find much to mull over, as well.) Come to the Carlos Club early for food and drink; the documentary starts just after dark, although discussion is sure to spill into the night.
