- To mark the closing of Southern Exposure's politically charged exhibit Hopeless and Otherwise, the gallery is shooting off a few pre-July 4th audio-visual fireworks, courtesy of three Los Angeles-based artists. But tonight's battlefield explosions are hardly celebratory; rather, they're presented as a multimedia exploration of the Iraq war's deleterious effects, serving as continued reminders of US foreign policy's failure to make good on the theatrical promise of "shock and awe." – Matt Sussman
