Prince's sexiness and an expertly played, Oscar-winning score elevate Purple Rain's Midwestern coming-of-age plot from ghetto melodrama to a tongue-in-cheek treatise on the transformative power of music. To honor Prince's magnum opus, Peaches Christ (who would die 4 U) dons her ruffles and valet jacket to lead the audience through a raucous pre-show — including a Purple Fashion Parade — with the help of local drag notables Putanesca and Martiny.
