Press for Todd Rundgren frequently misquotes the BBC, claiming that he is "is universally regarded as one of the most influential and innovative music artists of his generation." Such hyperbole exaggerates the significance (but not the spirit) of the arena prog-pop maestro, whose biggest hits — like That '70s Show staple "Hello It's Me" — only hinted at the cosmic opuses Initiation and Faithful. Something/Anything? is a darn good record as well, with four sides of poppy overstatement all orchestrated and performed by Mr. Rundgren himself. After recently replacing Ric Ocasek in the bizarre New Cars project, Todd has returned to his old, glorious, stylistically bloated solo act. – Nicholas Nauman
