Behold... the Arctopus isn't the only metal band to be able to claim both Meshuggah and Béla Bartòk as influences, but few groups pull these disparate artists' genres together so well. While their name might sound like a joke, the Warr guitar (a bass/guitar hybrid with a neck wider than most people's thigh) wielded by Colin Marston is all business, giving the three-piece outfit's jagged riffs (think Dillinger Escape Plan) a near-orchestral heft. LA-based openers Intronaut whet fans' appetites with their own metal/prog/jazz hybrid.
