The West Coast has no shortage of pastorally inclined folk chanteuses, but Laura Gibson floats above the best of 'em. With the release of If You Come to Greet Me in late 2006, Gibson proved her muse less plaintive than poignant, never letting arty whims or mainstream-indie cred (she's collaborated with Avant Electronic's Ethan Rose and toured with the Decemberists' Colin Meloy) cloud her mature vocals and assured, well-tempered songs. Kindred spirit (and former San Franciscan) Alela Diane opens.
