Though it may be hard to tell during some chilly summer nights in SF, the ten hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990. To raise awareness and provoke people to do something about this less-than-convenient truth, the Cool Globes Project started last year in Chicago. Artists including Jim Dine and Tom van Sant brought five-foot-tall models of Earth to life using all manner of media, colors, and messages. The works were displayed throughout the city, then put up for auction, inspiring thousands to pledge climate-friendly lifestyle changes. Here's hoping that the Toyota-sponsored event motivates San Franciscans in a similar fashion. The waterfront meadow known as Crissy Field plays host.
