Cleon Peterson's multipanel works depict violent urban scenes in black acrylic and hot pink enamel, bringing the seedy underworld of the inner city to the surface with shocking vibrancy. Scenes of assault, rape, and drug use are drawn from Peterson's experiences on the street as an addict. Chaos is also a kind of order in Kill Pixie's imagined worlds, rendered in acrylic, ink, and gouache on wood. Instead of navigating a realm of nightmarish confusion, Kill Pixie's subjects inhabit a fantasy sphere of heightened consciousness. Bodies are dismantled and reassembled into monstrous forms that move across jagged landscapes like cumbersome, half-broken machines.
