Over 200 years ago, Rebbe Nachman said to a group of followers, "Now I am going to tell you stories." Flash forward to Tim Barsky, who turns Jewish-folklore storytelling on its head via the completely innovative medium of, um, flute beatboxing. 7 Beggars is Barsky's modern retelling of Nachman's epic parable, featuring co-performer Brandi Brandes on vibraphone, drums, and loops. Barsky's hip-hop theatre makes for an utterly unique performance in which storytelling, music, and vocal percussion combine for a shockingly entertaining effect.
