If any two names make underground-comics fans quiver, they are Hayao Miyazaki and the Cartoon Art Museum. Miyazaki has earned global acclaim for his exquisitely crafted anime films, including international sensations Princess Mononoke (1997) and Spirited Away (2001). The musuem, meanwhile, has showcased the very best in comics and illustration since 1987. The two come together for an extremely rare presentation of work created for Miyazaki's Totoro No Furusato National Fund, a charity working to preserve Tokyo's Sayama Forest. The exhibit brings together work from over 200 artists, all inspired by Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro (1988) and all on loan from an auction to benefit the fund.
