The blues may have well-documented origins in the Mississippi Delta, but the country's longest continuously running blues fest calls the Bay Area home, and this year's installment packs a roster with strong local connections. A tribute to the late John Lee Hooker — who moved to San Francisco in the '70s and opened the Boom Boom Room — features the Coast to Coast Blues Band performing original Hooker material with help from his daughter Zakiya and nephew Archie Lee. Founding Jefferson Airplane members Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady bring their long-running act Hot Tuna, while Buckwheat Zydeco and Denise LaSalle ensure that cajun and soul music enthusiasts won't be disappointed.
