It's hard to beat the good old days of the MGM musical, with their dazzling costumes, extravagant sets, Gershwin-penned tunes, and Technicolor everything. The Presidio's Film in the Fog series offers a unique outdoor screening of one of the studio's best, An American in Paris. There's nothing more romantic than snuggling up with the ever-enchanting Gene Kelly as the mist billows into the Presidio bluffs. Arrive early to catch live music from the Supersonic Saxes and stay late to watch the film's famous finale: an epic 18-minute "dream ballet" whose production cost the studio nearly half a million (1950s-era) dollars.
