Cafe du Nord says…

J. Mascis plays drums in Witch, but even without his fiery guitar solos, the band carries the torch of Dinosaur Jr.'s punk-fried Black Sabbath leanings. Young guns Asa Irons and Kyle Thomas hail from Vermont and first made waves with Feathers, a group in which acid-tinged guitars were buried in a molasses of ethereal acoustics and light mysticism. Witch, on the other hand, come off as blacktop banshees. The band leans a little more towards Black Flag-style howlers on its new album, Paralyzed, but regardless of the tempo, these guys are a headbanger's delight.
