Deth P. Sun taps into the cartoon worlds of Edward Gorey, Maurice Sendak, and Moomin to create his own illustrated universe filled with cats on heroic quests. Whether wandering alone in dark woods, scaling mountains, being lost at sea, or floating in star fields, Sun's feline creatures don't have names or narratives, but simply pop up in his paintings like episodes of flash fiction. Equipped with white, hole-punched eyes, Oakland beauty queen sashes, and pure fearlessness, they stare down monsters, shipwrecks, and large knives. Rowan Morrison will be publishing Deth's first book, "I See It All," in conjunction with the show.
