Formed during a kitchen jam session, the Crooked Jades play charmingly home-brewed Americana. Specializing in contemporary interpretations of pre-radio music, the group uses vintage instrumentation but isn't afraid to meddle with original scores, often seasoning traditional numbers with echoes of African and European influences. Belle Monroe and her Brewgrass Boys open up with more straightforward renditions of old-time swing, roots, and bluegrass that feature Monroe's plucky voice over a menagerie of chipper strings helmed by ale and laughter-fueled players.
