The eighth annual DocFest features over 50 films from around the world, many of which underscore the organizers' affinity for quirky esoterica and oddball tales. Some of the highlights of this year's program include Patrick Shen's real-life answer to Good Will Hunting, The Philosopher Kings, in which he interviews those who sweep up at the US' institutions of higher learning; Cat Ladies, Christie Callan-Jones' exploration of the feline-obsessed; Stelios Kouglou's maddening and fascinating portrait of self-confessed economic hitman John Perkins; and The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virgina, Julien Nitzberg's roller-coaster ride with the notorious White clan, whose real-life escapades make Gummo look like child's play.
