SFMOMA says…

When poet F.T. Marinetti published The Futurist Cookbook in Milan in 1932, he roundly rejected Italian culinary tradition (read pasta) for outlandish recipes that shocked the senses. As a tie-in to SFMOMA’s current Futurist retrospective, Metal + Machine + Manifesto, OPEN Restaurant, the pop-up dinner theater hosted by Chez Panisse staffers, will stage a Marinetti-inspired meal in the museum lobby. Diners will feast on savory beef ice cream cones, avocado cocktails and flying panforte sourced from local food producers and served up by waiters on bikes.  With a remote control airplane hovering overhead and the occasional emergency siren as a soundtrack, this meal promises to be a shock to the senses.
