George Packer has covered many of the formative stories of the last decade. A true renaissance man, Packer has written novels, plays and is probably best know as a staff writer at The New Yorker. His book The Assassins' Gate: America in Iraq, is a riveting account of the events leading up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Packer's play about Iraqi interpreters, Betrayed, shows a deep and wide-ranging engagement with the individuals caught up in the War on Terror. His most recent book, Interesting Times: Writings from a Turbulent Decade, collects essays on some of the most important cultural and political stories of the past ten years -- from Iraq, to September 11, to the rise of Barack Obama and the 2008 election. Packer will be in conversation with journalist and former NewsHour correspondent Elizabeth Farnsworth.
