Presented as part of the Painting Lecture Series
Sarah Cain builds layers of materials to connect the practice of painting to sculpture and architecture. Cain has had solo exhibitions at Sara Meltzer Gallery, New York (spring 2009); Seiler + Mosseri-Marlio Galerie, Zurich (fall 2009); Anthony Meier Fine Arts, San Francisco (2006, 2009); Five Thirty Three, Los Angeles (2009); and Queens Nails Annex, San Francisco (2005).
Select group exhibitions include The 2008 California Biennial, Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach (2008); The 2006 SECA Art Award, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2007); Busan Biennale, Busan, Korea (2007); and Like Color in Pictures, Aspen Art Museum (2006). Cain received her MFA from the University of California at Berkeley. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
