Sax-man Karl Denson is one of those do-it-all types, forsaking musical boundaries and expectations at every turn in his career. Many people know him through his playing with Lenny Kravitz and trip-hop DJ Greyboy. As bandleader of avant-garde funk-jazz outfit Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, however, Denson explores jazz as dance music, producing a feverish, layered workout that moves hips and minds in equal measure.
