Yerba Buena Center for the Arts says…

YBCA mounts a colorful tribute to the continued influence of the Tropicália movement in Brazilian art. When Lives Become Form explores Tropicália as an intersection of Latin and Asian aesthetics that first combusted in the 1960s and continues to burn. Pulling from a half century of work across a variety of mediums, the exhibit's highlights include a recreation of a lounge space by leading Tropicália artist Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Pape's porcelain bowls poured with fluorescent water, a set of pop-minimalist paintings by Japanese-Brazilian painter Tomie Ohtake, and Marape’s tropical fruit and umbrella set pieces.
