It may have been 19 years since nerdy new wavers Devo released their last proper album, but when they take their synths to the stage, it's like the '80s never ended. A geek-rock essential, Devo continue to blend elements of kraut rock, industrial, and post-punk with a wry, often obscene sense of humor. The result is wildly varied anthems like "Jocko Homo" and "Beautiful World." Tonight kicks off a two-night residency at the Regency Ballroom with the band performing two classic albums in their entrity: 1978's Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! tonight, and 1980's Freedom of Choice tomorrow night.
