The Legion of Honor Museum says…

Adorning royal personalities from the Duchess of Windsor to Daisy Fellowes and a cabal of Hollywood beauties, Cartier was the standard bearer of bejeweled luxury from its heyday during the '20s and '30s until the company's sale in the mid '60s. The Legion of Honor mounts a rare tour through the Cartier archives, focusing on American-owned pieces such as the giddily colorful Tutti Frutti necklace, and Gloria Swanson's crystal bracelets, which she famously wore in Sunset Boulevard. In addition to spotlighting the firm's signature gilded age and art deco pieces, the exhibition offers a glance at its Mystery Clocks and handcrafted wristwatches, giving proof to the Prince of Wales' description of Cartier as, "jeweler to kings, king of jewelers."
