Before David Sedaris found fame as an author and regular voice on NPR, he had to get a "real job" — as an Elf. Chronicling the misadventures of becoming Crumpet (his Elfin alter-ego) and the often less-than-jolly work he did in Santaland, this one-man stage adaptation of his popular essay has its fair share of belly laughs at the expense of the poor guy's felt-clad past. Temper tantrums, potty-mouths, and soiled knickers in line (and that's just the other employees) are sprinkled throughout the show, along with a Billie Holiday-inspired rendition of "Away in a Manger." David Sinaikom with John Michael Beck filling in for a stint, are the ambitious actors who brings this seven-years-in-the-running, SF holiday tradition to life.
