J. MAYER H., a progressive architecture firm based in Berlin, understands all too well the modern compunction to confuse, rather than illuminate, with an onslaught of visual and digital data. It's known for playing with this "information mist" in ways both subtle (sly dimensional arrangements) and overt (covering its building with coats of computer code). So when the SFMOMA offered to stage the group's first-ever solo museum exhibition, the company proposed an unusual method to show its work: a combination of looped video recordings of existing projects and a specially constructed environment that allows museum-goers to experience its creations at full-scale.
