It all started in 2004, when Frank Warren distributed 3,000 postcards to total strangers. The rules were simple: write down a secret, anonymously, and mail it back. The experiment culminated in an East Coast exhibit later that year, and it wasn't long before word spread, other galleries called, and coffee-table books appeared. Now, Warren receives about 1,000 "secret" postcards every week, ranging from handmade art objects to diary-esque monologues. PostSecret collects the most striking — whether for their creativity, candor, or both — anonymous confessions from the past five years. This is the show's only West Coast stop, so it's worth the BART trip for the chance to share its secrets.
