Richard Price's gripping dialogue is as snappy as television and as layered as classic literature — which makes perfect sense, considering that the Clockers author has written many an episode of HBO's The Wire. In his latest novel, Lush Life, Price's prose is as smart, gritty, and addictive as ever. Set off by a late-night murder on the Lower East Side, Lush Life follows the case's disparate tribes — cops, artists, gangs, Latinos, college kids — while capturing the spirit of the changing neighborhood. Tonight, he discusses his work with contemporary Jewish fabulist Michael Chabon.
