Handmade Nation
Wednesday Mar 11, 2009 (7:30pm)
$12
First-time documentarian Faythe Levine traipsed across the US to stitch together insights into America's DIY community. The end result is Handmade Nation, a film comprised of interviews with crafters and artists like Stephanie Syjuco (the designer behind reconstructed clothes lable Anti-Factory) and Nikki McClure (a cut-paper illustrator). This screening at Mezzanine is followed by a conversation with Syjuco, Rare Device owner Lisa Congdon, and Craft magazine editor-in-chief Tina Barseghian. Local artists and reps from Rare Device and Needles & Pens will also have wares available for sale.
