Asobi Seksu w/ Bell and Resplandor

Asobi Seksu's third album, Hush, sees the Brooklynites branching out from shoegaze roots to emit fully-honed dream-pop. Their name derives from Japanese slang for "playful sex," and it's no wonder. Frontwoman Yuki Chikudate's sugary, melancholic vocals shine on tracks like "Me & Mary" and "Gliss," oscillating between childlike innocence and a sense of all-knowing femininity that holds up just fine against guitarist James Hanna's powerful, ragged chords. Tonight they're joined by tour- and borough-mates Bell, whose Björkian lead singer Olga Bell is a master of playful handclaps and blippy, chirping samples.

I do think that Hush album totally differs from the previous. It seems to me that Citrus was lively and sharp, while Hush too often refuses to rise above its inside voice, don't you think so? Nevertheless, I do enjoy both of Asobi's works, she's a really talented musician. http://www.edenfantasys.com/
