Asobi Seksu's third album, Hush, sees the Brooklynites branching out from shoegaze roots to emit fully-honed dream-pop. Their name derives from Japanese slang for "playful sex," and it's no wonder. Frontwoman Yuki Chikudate's sugary, melancholic vocals shine on tracks like "Me & Mary" and "Gliss," oscillating between childlike innocence and a sense of all-knowing femininity that holds up just fine against guitarist James Hanna's powerful, ragged chords. Tonight they're joined by tour- and borough-mates Bell, whose Björkian lead singer Olga Bell is a master of playful handclaps and blippy, chirping samples.
