42nd Annual Cherry Blossom Festival

Spring has officially sprung, and with it comes San Francisco's annual Cherry Blossom Festival. For two weekends, Japantown transforms into a vivid homage to the brief-blooming flower, kicking off with the Cherry Blossom Queen program and opening ceremonies on April 11. Festivities center on traditional Japanese arts, and include everything from cooking demonstrations, ancient craft techniques, and tea ceremonies to exhibits of manga, antique cars, and martial arts. The famous Grand Parade takes place on Sunday, April 19, but with such a variety of activities, any day at the festival promises to be remarkable.
