The synth-loving new-wave enthusiasts in the Faint have finally left Omaha's scenester Saddle Creek Records in favor of their own blank.wav label — but the switcheroo hasn't affected the band's trademark danceable dance beats or Todd Fink's spooky, disaffected vocals. Fasciinatiion, the band's first self-released effort, includes a few wonkily upbeat hits that could almost be classified as dance pop — though the album largely serves as a distillation of the band's last three records, mixing Blank-Wave Arcade's dire fatalism with Danse Macabre's dramatic guitar riffs and Wet From Birth's ominous anthems.
