I Am Kurious Orange

If you were to unpack all the dense layers of association, reference, and personal connection in this show, you still might not get to the bottom of what David Cunningham Projects is describing as, "an exhibition, a rehearsal, a residency, and a performance." In brief: guest curator Anne Colvin and gallerist Cunningham both attended a 1988 performance of the Michael Clark Dance Company's collaboration with art-punks the Fall, I Am Curious, Orange. I Am Kurious Orange takes Colvin and Cunningham's chance encounter with modern dance, and Mark E. Smith reworking of William Blake's hymn "Jerusalem," and explodes it into several multimedia works and ongoing performances (including Karla Milosevich's Fall cover band) that build over the month of May towards a closing-night spectacle.
