If one person's trash is another person's treasure, that same trash can be the source material for another person's art. So goes the thinking behind the SF Dump's long-running artists-in-residence program, which showcases the work of its two most recent participants, Bill Basquin and Jane Kim, tonight. Basquin's interest in urban agriculture and decomposition has resulted in a photographic series of fruit in the rancid splendor of decay; Kim also bases her art in what's been discarded, but focuses on the man-made over the organic — in this case, walls. Salvaging extant fragments and creating new walls from lumber, brick, plywood, sheet rock, and paint, Kim has created a shelter-like habitat that expands the concept of "structural integrity" to include a more humanistic dimension.
