Co-headlining tonight, Black Moth Super Rainbow and School of Seven Bells offer different sides of the same psych-pop coin: mixing analog and electronic instrumentation, both bands make the synthetic feel warm and vital, merging futuristic overtones with a gauzy, dreamlike aura. Imagine two broadcasts from the end of civilization, one revealing that the sun still shines on grassy fields, the other telling us to set out for the cosmos. Black Moth pile on the vintage synths to create a golden glow, equal parts psychedelic and funky, while vocoding their vocals past any hint of the human. Seven Bells pose a shimmering soundtrack for interstellar travel, with satiny harmonic melodies set to clattering drums, clockwork beeps, and an enveloping aural haze.
