The cinemania of Another Hole in the Head — San Francisco's annual on-screen orgy of fantasy, gore, perversity, and deviance — takes a decidedly nostalgic spin this year. The drippy stroll down memory lane offers sentimental outlets into the comedy-fright-werewolf genre with Audie and the Wolf, a tale of a lunar lunatic's Hollywood killing frenzy; ducks into Blaxploitation territory with a delightfully deranged combo of taboo sex- and cult-induced violence in Black Devil Doll; and plumbs the vengeful world of samurai — colored by the cartoonish violence of the Knights who say Ni — in Samurai Avenger: The Blind Wolf. Just be sure to top it off with two new Takahashi Miike features, Machine Girl's return, and a staged play of a Marina boy's Mötley Crüe obsession.
