Something must have aligned in the stars in 1939 that made Hollywood sing. Often hailed as one of the Golden Age's greatest years, '39 found many of Tinseltown's brightest shining in some of their most memorable pictures. James Stewart and Marlene Dietrich paired up in Destry Rides Again; Cary Grant and Jean Arthur in Howard Hawks' Only Angels Have Wings; and let's not forget the all-female ensemble of The Women. Appropriately, San Francisco's only movie palace, the Castro, screens these and 15 other glorious classics from this golden year, including Another Thin Man, You Can't Cheat An Honest Man, Wuthering Heights, and Son of Frankenstein.
