SFMOMA's huge retrospective presents the largest American survey of Avedon's work to date, from his early, revolutionary fashion work at Harper's Bazaar and the countless '60s portraits of political and cultural movers and shakers, to his magnum opus documenting America's surreal frontier, In the American West, and his final portraits for The New Yorker.
