The little local arts-and-music-festival-that-could just keeps getting bigger and better. Now celebrating its 13th year, Mission Creek has expanded its scope, highlighting amazing music from the Mexican and Latin American diaspora (check out the Convergence Mmix series); cross-media performers from Sweden (part of the Lab's Collision series); and a host of other local and international acts, from the druggy psych rock of Dead Meadow to the twisted cabaret tunes of Jessie Evans. Also slated are screenings of documentaries on the '90s reunion of Krautrock legends Faust, and brain-damaged metal group Faxed Head's slapdash tour of Japan, as well as Ira Cohen's 1968 mystical magnum opus Invasion of the Thunderbolt Pagoda.
