Ten years ago, renowned Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki designed YBCA's unique exhibition space. Now, with Wallworks, the beauty and utility of his design is showcased by the art on display. Eight artists were challenged to integrate the building space into individualized large-scale works. The results are prodigious and stunning: pieces range from surreal urban landscapes to manga-inspired leviathans to vibrant geometric puzzles. Each piece is impressive on its own, but cumulatively they shift and expand our experience of YBCA's architecture.
