The Mission has seen many white cubes come and go, but the Lab has staying power. Chalk it up to the space's reputation as a launching pad for some of the Bay Area's best, brightest and most forward thinking visual and multimedia artists. Scott Arford, Tony Ousler, Rex Ray, Bary McGee all had early shows here (usually a precursor to inclusion into YBCA's Bay Area Now biennials). To mark their 25th anniversary the space issued an open call for entries inviting artists to respond to some of the formative work of the aforementioned alumni. The resulting group show is a thoughtful tribute to the Lab's past as well as a much-deserved toast to its future.
