Even if you don't brave the crowds huddled together along the waterfront, chances are you'll be able to hear and see the city's official display of patriotic firepower from most points (if the weather forecast for tonight stays clear). You may not care for the whole patriotism thing, but it's hard not to get sucked into ooh-ing and aah-ing at the old razzle-dazzle as it lights up the Bay. And if you need second or third helpings, there's always a few homegrown pyrotechnicians sparking off around town.
