Zak Smith is a punk-rock porn star, as well as a visual artist known for vivid, frenetic illustrations and paintings that range from detailed portraits to abstract landscapes. His book Pictures Showing What Happens on Each Page of Thomas Pynchon's Novel Gravity's Rainbow garnered critical attention, and his work has been featured at both the MoMa and the Whitney. His newest book, We Did Porn, showcases more than 100 of his illustrations with an intimate and darkly comic narrative that chronicles his origins in New York City, his journey to the West Coast, and his firsthand experience (as Zak Sabbath) in Los Angeles' alternative porn industry.
