In honor of their 35th anniversary, the folks of SF Camerawork have mounted an ambitious two-part exhibition that aims to reflect back the past, present, and future of the Bay Area through photography. Part one, San Francisco Plays Itself, is a scrapbook of the city over the last 30 years as captured by some of its sharpest pairs of eyes. Grouped into three thematic clusters — perspectives, figures, and actions — the images from Catherine Wagner, Mark Citret, Catherine Opie, Michael Jang, Annie Leibovitz, Kota Ezawa, Tseng Kwong Chi, and Ken Light, among others, offer many tales of the city.
