Sundance Kabuki Cinema says…

The year is 1978 and Raúl — unnervingly oblivious to the Pinochet-backed terror around him,  Santiago’s filth, and his needy girlfriend — is singularly obsessed with the just released Saturday Night Fever, and more specifically with its hero: Tony Manero. Raúl's neurotic quest to best a series of challengers on a televised impersonation contest quickly takes on a perversely comic dimension as he casually and dispassionately kills anyone who stands in the way of first place. At once a sideways commentary on the peculiar madness of Pinochet’s Chile and a damning criticism of cultural globalization, Pablo Larrain's highly stylized drama is a harrowing thrill ride.
